In Watergate, the Nixon Administration tries to cover up the burgeoning scandal of illegal wiretapping of the Democratic Party, even as Washington Post reporters gradually trace the informers' trail back to the President.

Two sides, an asymmetrical duel

Watergate is an asymmetrical strategy game for two players. One player embodies the press, while his opponent embodies the administration Nixon, each with his own deck of cards.

Each card allows players to activate a specific action, or the possibility of manipulating several elements (Evidence, Initiative or Momentum tokens) on the game board, in the direction of the journalists or the White House, in the manner of a tug-of-war. The final position of each token, at the end of the round, will determine how it is used by each side. It's up to the players to decide which strategy they prefer: gaining the initiative, managing the evidence or gaining Momentum (enabling Nixon to win).

Actions can be used to recruit informers, reveal evidence and create connections between key figures in the scandal. The Nixon player, on the other hand, can recruit conspirators and destroy evidence, thus blocking the connections created by the journalist

To win, Nixon must reach the end of the presidential term by earning 5 Momentum tokens, while the journalist must gather enough evidence to link at least two informers directly to the president.

Watergate is a tactical game full of tension, inviting players to make Cornelian strategic choices to achieve their victory conditions before their opponents do. The game's fully integrated theme makes for epic duels set against a backdrop of political scandal.
