Children's running shoes Contender["Suede"]{"Surface": ["Street"]}
The Contender is an archive silhouette that was originally launched in 1995 with design ideas from Mizuno's founder Rhiachi Mizuno. It was a lightweight model characterized by stability and support, designed for entry-level runners looking for a well-cushioned shoe suitable for road or off-road running. The original Contender combined mesh with suede reinforcements for a durable construction while maintaining maximum comfort. The midsole is a single-density EVA foam moulded by compression with Mizuno's Transpower technology at the heel, a very responsive foam insert that absorbs shocks and adds cushioning. For the outsole, a new monoblock rubber was used with flex grooves at the forefoot for a smoother transition from heel to toe. The classic 90s look and the balanced way in which the matte mesh and suede are alternated create a unique blend of casual feel and the sporting origins of this silhouette. In AW23, the Contender S evolves into a new combo of materials mixing suede and synthetic suede with a white base and contrasting colour eyelets.
