How to play DÉFIS NATURE - GRAND JEU FANTASTIQUE?
The game board is made up of several tiles representing fantasy environments (ocean, swamp, mountain, forest and desert), as well as the dragon's lair in the middle of the board. On each tile is a "Treasure" token (sword, flask or gem). Each player chooses a character from among the mermaid, ogre, yeti, magician and genie, and places the corresponding token on the board on the tile bearing its symbol.
Each game turn consists of 3 stages.
1st stage of play: the battle with the Nature Challenge cards
The player in the lead draws a "Battle" card to discover the terms of the confrontation. Players then battle over the characteristics of their creatures. Example of a battle: the Sphinx measures 230 cm... Can it win the battle against Anansi, one of West Africa's most popular legendary characters, and Ushi-oni, a half-ox, half-crab creature that roams the coast of Japan? Ushi-oni is the winner, measuring 500 cm (Anansi measures 180 cm).
Beware: the dangerous nature of these creatures can turn the tide of battle!
2nd game stage: the dragon
The player who wins the battle draws a "Dragon" card and applies the indicated effect. When the dragon moves, he burns the tiles in his path (players turn them over) and steals the treasures on these tiles to amass in his lair! A new "Treasure" token is added to the tiles around his point arrival point.
3rd stage of the game: moving and acquiring quests
Players take it in turns to move their "Character" tokens one tile and collect the "Treasure" token(s) on the arrival tile. They also collect the corresponding "Environment" token (forest, swamp, ocean, desert or mountain).
If they wish, they can acquire quests (for points) with their tokens. During this stage, players can make use of their characters' powers and superpowers. For example, the Mermaid has the power to teleport from one ocean tile to another as she moves. Her one-time superpower is attraction. It allows her to steal two tokens from the players of her choice.
At the end of the game, players count the points they've earned over the rounds. The player with the most points wins the game!
